What is this Drug
Triamcinolone, a corticosteroid, is used to prevent allergy symptoms including sneezing, itching, and runny or stuffed nose.

How should you take this medication?
Take these drugs on a regular daily basis, exactly as prescribed. With Nasacort and Nasacort, you should begin to see improvement after a week, although it may take 2 weeks or more to achieve the grea
test benefit. Nasacort AQ should begin to produce results on the first day, but will take a week to yield maximum benefit.
If the drug irritates your throat, gargling and rinsing your mouth
with water after each dose can help to relieve the problem.
Do not spray Nasacort directly onto the bone that separates the nostrils. Avoid spraying either medication in your eyes.

Drug Interactions
Tell your health care professional if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines, such as:
- Ephedrine or
- Phenobarbital or
- Rifampin (e
.g., Rifadin)¡XEphedrine, phenobarbital, and rifampin may decrease the blood levels of nasal corticosteroids, such as dexamethasone, warranting an increase in corticosteroid dose

More common side effects of Nasacort may include:
- Headache
Less common side effects of Nasacort may include:
- Dryness of the membranes lining the nose, mouth, and throat, nasal i
rritation, nasal and sinus congestion, nosebleeds, sneezing, throat discomfort
Side effects of Nasacort in children aged 6 to 11 may include:
- Cough, ear inflammation, fever, indigesti
on, nausea, nosebleed, throat discomfort

Precautions Before Using This Medicine
Children¡XCorticosteroids taken by mouth or injection have been shown to slow or stop growth in children and cause reduced adrenal gland function. If corticosteroids are medically necessary to control
nasal problems in a child, nasal corticosteroids are generally considered to be safer than corticosteroids taken by mouth or injection. Prolonged or high-dose use of nasal corticosteroids may potentia
lly affect growth; although, most nasal corticosteroids have not been shown to affect growth.
Before this medicine is given to a child, you and your child's doctor should talk about the good this
medicine will do as well as the risks of using it.

Symptoms of overdose
Acne; blurred vision; bone fractures; excess hair growth in females; fullness or rounding of the face, neck, and trunk; high blood pressure; impotence in males ; increased urination or thirst;
lack of menstrual periods; menstrual changes; muscle wasting and weakness
